Indigenous Infant Development Program (IIDP)
Supporting young children grow, develop and thrive alongside their families.
The Healthy Care Pregnancy Program (HCPP) provides culturally safe, trauma-informed support for pregnant and newly parenting individuals who use or have used substances. Through in-reach services, advocacy, and relationship-based care, we help bridge the transition from hospital to home and connect families with ongoing community supports.
About the Program
Every child develops in their own way and at their own pace. Sometimes families may have questions about their child’s development or need additional support navigating health, education and community services.
IIDP provides a welcoming and supportive place for families to ask questions, understand their child’s development and identify supports that may help.
Our approach recognizes that supporting a child also means supporting their family. Cultural teachings, family strengths and relationships are honoured throughout the program, while families are connected with healthcare providers, community organizations, Elders and specialized practitioners when needed.
Who is the Program For?
This program may be a good fit for Indigenous families with a child from a child from birth to age five who:

Have questions or concerns about their children's development

Have a child with, or at risk of, a development delay

Would like supports understanding developmental milestones

Need help developing or coordinating a care plan

Are navigating medical, educational or developemntal services

Would benefit from additional resources or referrals

Are preparing for their child's transition into kindergarten
Supports vary based on individual needs, funding, and program availability.

The program works with families to udnerstand what support makes sense for the child rather than expecting families to navigating complex systems on their own.
Building Connections
IIDP works closely with families and community partners to create a blanket of wraparound care around children.
Relationships with School District 79, Clements Centre, Indigenous child and family service agencies, healthcare providers, specialists and other early years services help families access coordinated support while keeping the child and family at the centre.
IIDP also works closely with Hiiye'yu Lelum's Aboriginal Head Start Program, allowing children participating in Head Start to access Infant Development support directly within the program.
